They Say the Levees Will Hold

Last week we took a ride to the levees to check out how high the river was. They have closed the levee to all cars and trucks, so we went on foot.

The gun was brought just in case we ran into any snakes or hogs. Ben had shot a hog earlier in the day on the levee and we didn't want to take any chances.

If you remember my post from the Mississippi river a couple of months ago, the river was far back on the other side of those group trees in the distance. Now it's over halfway up the levee.

Footloose

and fancy free!

To be a child again where your biggest worries don't consist of losing your home or livelihood to a flood.

Echo..echo...echo

As long as my family is safe...

we'll be just fine.

They spotted an alligator

and found some worms.

Yuck!

"Momma, why don't you like worms?"

Wilson didn't take it well when he had to let his worms go

but, it was time to go home.

Nothing a slush can't fix!

Praying that the levees will hold...

and

praying for all the families who have already lost their homes, farms, and businesses to the flood.

Here's the video of Davis's poem. He was in outer space when it was his turn to go up and you can hear people including me calling his name. Sorry for the quality... trying to take pictures and video at the same time with a four year old bouncing in your lap isn't easy.

"What I Found In My Desk"

A ripe peach with an ugly bruise

A pair of stinky tennis shoes

A day old ham and cheese on rye

A swimsuit that I left to dry

A pencil that glows in the dark

Some bubble gum I found in the park

A paper bag with cookie crumbs

An old kazoo that barely hums

And one more thing I must confess

A note from Ms. Traci "CLEAN THIS MESS!"

His friend Mary Clark read a poem titled "Davis Kissed Me". He kept his ears covered the whole time. I missed the photo op. I hope someone else got it. Also, when he went to get his diploma he tripped. What can I say, he takes after me.

Performing Tooty Ta for the finale.

T-Ball and Easter

I am like three weeks behind on blogging. There is just so much that has been going on and things aren't going to slow down for another week and a half. So this is just going to be a catch up blog before I get even more behind including beginning of baseball and Easter other randoms. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks I will be able to get back on track.

T-ball started on April 19th and we have been playing two games a week. Davis is having fun and we are enjoying watching him play. Although it's t-ball he is able to hit it without the T.

Wearing his Dad's number from high school

Go, Davis, Go!

Easter Bunny came and he brought too much candy. We are still eating it.

The Easter Bunny hid our eggs in the yard.
By the way, Ben dressed the boys in mis-match pjs. He does this to aggravate me.
Showing off their eggs.

We went to church later that morning. Regretfully, in the rush to get ready I neglected to get a picture of the boys in their Easter clothes. :( Take my word for it, they looked handsome.

That afternoon, the boys had a water gun/balloon fight with each other. Luckily I was holding the camera so I wasn't the usual target.

If you read my Christmas post you'll remember that Ben likes to buy things for the boys that he also enjoys playing with.

Wilson wanted to, but knew what would happen if he did. And yes, they are playing in their underwear. And yes, Wilson's are on backwards.

Wilson looks like a shivering wet rat as he is waiting for his towel.
