Dougie In My Snuggie (LSU OFFICIAL)

If you're in need of a good laugh please watch Dougie in My Snuggie. This really makes me proud as an LSU alumnus. Oh to have been on campus and run into Dougie in his Snuggie would have been the highlight of my years at LSU. This is truly a classic that should be played before every home game! In honor of Dougie in His Snuggie, everyone in the Guthrie family will be receiving LSU snuggies for Christmas.

Last but not least... I am so proud of the Tigers for beating Alabama! I almost forgive you for not beating Auburn. This song is for you Les Miles!

Pirate Treasure

Pirates have been a longtime fascination of the Guthrie boys. The other day Pop Pop and P.C. took the boys over the levee to the sandbar on the Mississippi River to dig up pirate treasure. Earlier that day Pop Pop buried the plunder. I wasn't there, but I know the boys were psyched. They are all about pirate adventures! I can just imagine their reaction when they dug it up. They both found their own little chest loaded with gold coins and jewels. Wilson was nice enough to give me his jewels, but I wasn't allowed to touch his coins. He said the jewels weren't cool. In addition to their booty, Davis brought home a stinky possum skull which is proudly displayed on his desk. Pop Pop let me borrow his camera card to share the pictures.

I have no idea what that thing is that Davis is holding up, but I'm thankful he didn't bring it home.

Halloween

Saturday morning we attended the Tensas Music Fest. I woke up early and participated in the Walk for the Cure while the boys went to work with Ben. After I was done, Ben brought the boys to me at the festival where they painted pumpkins, harassed animals in the petting zoo, got their faces painted, and did the spider jump. Well, Davis did the spider jump. Wilson got all hooked up to the harness and bungee chords then freaked out when the guy started lifting him off the ground. Reluctantly, I let them choose the design for their face painting. I was hoping more for a cute little puppy dog or tiger face , but Davis chose a scary skeleton and Wilson a pirate face. They both had a lot of fun. After a long morning at the festival, we all went home and took a nap.That afternoon we took the boys trick-or-treating to the grandparents and then later stopped by the Tuckers for chili dogs and smores. John David and Bailey came in for the weekend, so they came and hung out with us too. It was a busy but fun day!

About a week and half ago my dad had an accident at the gin. He got his foot sucked into the module feeder. Luckily, he didn't lose his foot, but he had to have surgery and has to keep off of it for a month. He ditched his crutches and wheelchair and got a hover round. When I brought the boys to trick or treat Saturday afternoon, he enjoyed chasing the boys around on it in his Halloween costume. Wilson hit him in the foot with his fireman axe, so his fun was short lived.

Trunk or Treat

This past Friday before our home football game our school hosted Trunk or Treat. Several parents and student organizations lined up at the end of the football field with their trunks decorated passing out candy to the children walking around. Davis and Wilson had a ball and it was the most candy we've scored ever! Afterwards the trunk-or-treaters walked in a procession down the field showing off their costumes to the spectators in the stands before lining up to the cheer the Chiefs running out. This was the first year Tensas Academy has done this and I hope they continue it in the future. We got to see all of the precious costumes and it made for a less painful trick-or-treat experience altogether.
